Many believe that the game is harmless.<\/p>\n<p>Parenting expert\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/micheleborba.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michele Borba, Ed.D.<\/a>\u00a0says, \u201cThe Choking Game can be &#8216;played&#8217; as a dare game in a group and has become popular at slumber parties. Kids take turns &#8216;choking&#8217; each other or another\u00a0<span class=\"vm-hook-outer vm-hook-default\"><span class=\"vm-hook\">kid<\/span><\/span>\u00a0gives a hard bear hug from behind or applies pressure under the child\u2019s heart (usually with the head of the other participant) until the victim passes out.\u201d This game has actually been around for several decades, but participants now use ropes or belts more often and are doing it alone, making it even more dangerous.<\/p>\n<p data-skm-boomerang-el-0=\"processed\">The\u00a0<span class=\"vm-hook-outer vm-hook-default\"><span class=\"vm-hook\">idea<\/span><\/span>\u00a0behind the choking game is to release the pressure on the carotid artery just before passing out. Wait too long, and a rope or belt around the neck tightens as the weight of the unconscious body pulls down. There is also a chance of seizures or stroke.<\/p>\n<p data-skm-boomerang-el-0=\"processed\">Source: SheKnows<\/p>\n<h3>The Real Danger<\/h3>\n<p data-skm-boomerang-el-0=\"processed\">\u201cThe real danger with this is actually getting it right the first time. Now your impression is, \u2018I\u2019m smarter than those people who killed themselves. They aren\u2019t as good at it as me.\u2019 You think, \u2018I can push it farther; I can set my noose tighter or longer.
